New publication introduces a scalable event-based platform to optimize industrial energy management via digital twins
Fondazione Links, a key partner in the FLEXIndustries project, has published a new paper, “A Distributed Event-Orchestrated Digital Twin Architecture for Optimizing Energy-Intensive Industries”, in the proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Internet of Things, Big Data and Security.
The paper presents an innovative platform architecture that leverages distributed digital twins, microservice workflows, and a Kafka-centered event orchestration backbone to deliver real-time monitoring, forecasting, and simulation services for optimizing industrial energy consumption. Designed for scalability, fault tolerance, and efficient data handling, the system supports dynamic, API-driven task scheduling tailored to energy-intensive industrial environments.
This architecture is set to be deployed and validated across multiple industrial use cases under FLEXIndustries, showcasing its potential to enhance energy management strategies across sectors and contribute to more flexible, low-carbon industrial operations.
